this little girl wakes up smiling every morning.
it doesn't matter if she's teething, freezing or woke up 5 times that night.
she is a morning person.
dylan is an evening person.
but! he learned how to say "momma" this weekend.
so now he wakes me up by yelling/crying/moaning, "momma" in addition to his usual screams.
variety. it's the spice of life.

the garden hose.
i'm assuming most kids like to drink out of the hose.
i think i drank out of the garden hose growing up.
but that doesn't mean i don't still have a mixture of "oh gross" and "aww, how sweet" when i watch dylan stick the whole thing in his mouth and quench his thirst.
then again, this is the little man who licked the floor at costco.
so i guess the garden hose isn't so bad.

cherry blossom festival round 2
the festival was so beautiful this year we went back for another day.
i love the blossoms, the monuments, the water, everything.
but dylan?
dylan loves tractors.
so naturally, he found the only tractor within 5 miles of the festival.

and janie?
janie was just happy to be outside.

bmx.
my son needs to find a toddler bmx group.
a quiet walk around the community this weekend deteriorated into this:
two things need to change in this photo:
1. helmet
2. dad should look a little more worried

puffs.
i asked dylan to feed jane a few puffs this morning.
i needed him to help entertain her while i did the dishes.
ha.
the price of entertainment.
he offered her the whole container.
but jane was entertained grabbing fist-fulls and throwing them.
and dylan was entertained while deliberately stepping on them to make a "crunch" sound.
and me?
i finished the dishes.

"oh no!"
dylan's most recent addition to his vocabulary is, "oh no!"
when he woke up from his nap today we were serenaded by something like this:
"oh no!" giggle giggle "guck!" (stuck)
"oh no!" asdhfkah asdjflaksjdflkaj "out!"
"oh no!" jhkjhdsf hjhasdfkjh "truck!"
"oh no!" laughing..... "oh no!"
"oh no!" jumping...... "oh no!"
maybe an over-use of the word?
but still entertaining.

special.
dylan is special.
obviously, every mom thinks their child is special.
but it's always a little humorous watching his speech therapist, occupational therapist and psychologist all try and find *special* ways of saying he's special so as not to offend...
anyway, last sunday i was telling an older lady friend at church how he's calmed down since he started wearing a compression vest.
she said, "oh you mean like the kind they use on dogs?"
yes. exactly.
now that's special.

imitation.
i hear it's normal for toddlers to imitate their primary caregiver.
so naturally dylan wants to wear ribbons in his hair, right?
sunday he tried to put on lipstick, foundation and blush.
time for dylan to spend more time with his dad.

my yes-man.
my dear son has a speech delay.
in the last week he learned how to say, "uh huh!"
i think he's pretty proud of himself since he says it for pretty much everything.
and with A LOT of enthusiasm.
however i was getting the strange feeling that he doesn't really understand all of my questions.
i tested my theory this morning:
dylan, do you want pancakes?
uh huh!
do you want syrup?
uh huh!
do you want arsenic?
uh huh!
what about amphetamines?
uh huh!
point taken.

strawberry shortcake.
one of my husband's many talents is baking.
this weekend he decided to make strawberry shortcake.
he lovingly made the cake part, cut up the strawberries and piled on the cream.
after he put them all together we admired them, i took a picture... yadda yadda.
but when we sat down to eat them he looked at his and said, "eh. i don't really feel like shortcake."
really. REALLY!?!
so the next night he made chocolate cake.

plastic bins.
while cleaning this weekend we found this bin.
and then dylan found it.
and then dad put jane in it.
and then jane smiled because she didn't know how scared she should have been.

hair accessories.
jane has a very beautiful and very bald head.
people also like to tell me that it's abnormally large.
sweet.
usually she sports hats due to the aforementioned reasons.
today we branched out and she wore the beautiful hair bow her aunt tiff made her.
so lovely.
nice dylan.
