dylan loves cars and trucks.
so i thought he'd enjoy learning the word "car".
he didn't.
our "car lesson" went something like this:
"dylan what is this?"
"truck"
"it's a car"
"truck"
"car car car"
"truck"
"can you say car?"
"truck"
"there is a difference. this is a car"
pause...
"cartruck"

perfect.

self esteem.

positive self-talk?
he's got that one covered.

vacation part 2

jane also had a lovely week.
she matched dylan's energy level but channeled it to eating.
i think she gained about 5 pounds.
grandma even let her try nutella.
lucky her.

vacation part 1

last week we went on vacation to seattle.
and it was bliss.
we had perfect weather, the kids were happy and i got to hand over my responsibilities children to my parents.
if only we lived closer.
here are some of dylan's highlights from the week:

dylan biked about 2-3 miles a day.
he also found a pure, messy kind of happiness in every mud puddle.


he even got to ride bikes with grandpa b.
they share the same energy level.
and the constant need to go biking.
they bonded.

it's happened.
jane is finally tired of the crazy little man taking her stuff.
today while making herself busy with trying to choke play with the hand sanitizer lid, dylan showed up.

let's say he wanted to take the lid to save her life.

but she was too quick.
point for jane.
so he started poking her eyes.
point for dylan.

ha. he was just cleaning them, right?
